Scientific Merit Review

The Advisory Committee is designing and will soon launch the scientific merit review process for SCoPEx. This peer review evaluation aims to answer questions about the design and methodology of the experiment and evaluate the expected scientific contributions of the proposed experiment.

CEC21 SCoPEx Advisory Committee Discussion

The Committee recently held a virtual session at the Climate Engineering in Context Conference (CEC21). This opportunity allowed the Committee to lead a discussion and collect feedback on various approaches to public engagement for SCoPEx. Visit the CEC21 Workshop Page to read more about those discussions.

Global Societal Engagement

A subcommittee is currently working on identifying an organization to support a global societal engagement process. This will serve as one step in the process towards learning about public perceptions about this small scale research project and give an opportunity for the Committee and other experts to share information on the technical and societal implications of small scale solar geoengineering research.

SCoPex Advisory Committee at AGU’s Fall Meeting

The Advisory Committee will be hosting a hybrid in-person and virtual Town Hall event at the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) Fall Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021.  More information about AGU’s Fall Meeting and registration information is available on their website. To stay informed of future updates, please subscribe to our mailing list here.
