Guidance on Local Engagement
The Advisory Committee has published Guidance on Local Engagement. This will serve as high level guidance by which the Advisory Committee will assess the research team’s execution of an engagement process. Societal engagement is one of the five areas of our framework that will help the Advisory Committee determine whether and under what conditions the experiment can proceed.
Scientific Merit Review Update
The Advisory Committee is conducting a scientific merit review of the SCoPEx research plan. We recently received materials from the peer reviewers and panel members. The Advisory Committee received the Research Team’s response in late October and will be proceeding with the review process. Read more about the review status and upcoming steps on the Scientific Merit Review page.
AC Budget Renewed through 2023
Harvard’s Vice Provost for Research, the Vice Provost for Climate and Sustainability, and Dean of the School of Engineering renewed the budget to support the Advisory Committee’s work through next July of 2023. Harvard’s Solar Geoengineering Research Program provides the funding for the Advisory Committee, that funds the salary for the Executive Coordinator of the Committee, travel expenses for in-person meetings, and general administrative costs. All Committee members continue to serve on a volunteer basis.
AC Membership Update
Advisory Committee member, Raj Pandya has stepped down from the Committee as of this month due to other professional commitments at the American Geophysical Union. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions to the committee over the last three years and wish him the best of luck in the future!
